AC Milan hints new striker signing after Giroud
Paolo Maldini confirms the purchase of Olivier Giroud and hints that AC Milan will sign another striker soon.
During the new Serie A 2021/22 calendar presentation, AC Milan technical director Paolo Maldini made an important announcement confirming the imminent arrival of French striker Olivier Giroud for a total fee of 2 million euros.
“Yes, we are waiting for Giroud to arrive tomorrow. He and Ibrahimovic? Two young strikers… (laughs)”. However, Maldini hints that Giroud will not be the only signing in attack. “We could sign a new striker, let’s see what happens“.
The Rossoneri’s third striker could be Santos starlet Kaio Jorge. AC Milan are working with his agent Giuliano Bertolucci to close an agreement. Kaio Jorge becomes a free agent in sixth months and Milan would like to postpone his signing in January on a free. Personal terms are not a problem but the parties are negotiating on the agent’s commission fee.
Meanwhile, Paolo Maldini admitted that the Rossoneri are determined to extend the contract of Franck Kessie. “Kessie is in our future. We are working on the renewal. We are working on it but now he stays with us”.
Inevitable question about the departure of Gianluigi Donnarumma: “Important loss even if we took a great goalkeeper like Mike Maignan. Gigio was born in our youth ranks, he played many games for Milan and showed who he is, the fact that history is interrupted hurts a little, but it’s right to think about the future, it fascinates me more“.
